Success Stories – Clients

Ian

When I first came to TP I was feeling like I don’t need this, I can do this on my own, I have it under control. I was living a lie. It was painful for the first week and I wanted to leave. I didn’t think it was going to work. But once I started to be honest with myself things started to turn around. Forgiving myself was the biggest thing. So I just let go and did the work and that was the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. I have a whole new life ahead of me now and I’m looking forward to new challenges/goals that will come my way.

Pat - Business Man

I came here to clean my organs and mind. I accomplished both plus got my addiction under control. Being physically and mentally healed will for sure enable me to extend my longevity. I actually have restful sleeps and can think clearly. This is Good!

Curtis

I started abusing 4 years ago, my life started to spin out of control. My attitude was changed towards everyone, and everything, life was shit. Since I’ve been here my love of life and little things has come back. Just have to thank Turning Point for my life back. (Substance: Alcohol, cocaine, heroin, oxycotin)

Matt

I am doing awesome with my recovery! I cannot believe it has almost been 2 years already... I guess time flies when you are having fun. I hope all is well at the Aberfoyle Residence and Turning Point. Tell John, Anna and the gang that I say a big hello and that they changed my life!

I am now working with and alongside my dad and am enjoying life as I should. Once again, Thanks and best wishes in the future!

Shawn

I have been clean for approximately two and a half years. When I went to the (Turning Point) I was real iffy about what I was about to do. After arriving there the staff made me feel like I was at home. Before going there I was about to lose my family, my job and everything I worked so hard for, so I thought what else do I have to lose so let’s do it.

Since returning home everything has been awesome. I have been promoted to supervisor, I have all my family back and I am able to talk about my substance abuse to anyone with out any regrets. I have to thank Turning Point for helping me get back on the right path. I do keep in touch with John a couple times a year and would love to come and visit the centre and talk to some of the clients on my progress.

Warren

I'm doing fantastic – over two years sober. We are just finishing up the fantastic follow-up that Tracy has stayed true to, we sure appreciate that and it has helped us, not just dealing with my addiction, but every day life.

Mark

It has been six months since I left Turning Point, and now eight months sober. This could not have been possible without everyone who dedicates themselves at Turning Point. There have been a lot of trials and tests along the way, and I haven’t always made the right decisions. However I have a great deal of understanding and clarity on why those decisions were made and how to change the outcome of future crossroads I may encounter. I am happier in life now and have a positive path ahead of me.

Jon

When I first walked through the door at Turning Points, the joke was I shuffled in. I say joke but it was more like reality. The condition I was in was less then par to say the least. With each passing day it progressively got closer to a manageable state. Mentally, physically, and overall quality of life increased with each morning shake, each group meeting and each sober day.

Chartered Accountant

I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 months since I left the program. My life has never been better. While I was never able to patch up my marriage, I have clearly established better relationships with those that I care for most. I know that I wouldn’t be the father that I am today had I not changed. As I learned, change is difficult but very rewarding. I can’t thank you enough for all that you did.

Tyler

Tyler began using cocaine at the age of 32 with friends after his dad became seriously ill. The addiction quickly escalated and within eight months he realized he needed help. His father and step-mother found the program and signed him up.

Tyler’s Top Three ‘Best Things About Turning Point’
  • The staff, John and Butch and others help make you comfortable right away. How accommodating they are with everyone.
  • The counseling – made me realize bigger problems than just the drugs, stemming back from childhood.
  • The overall attitude and atmosphere – well-being and healthiness, going to the gym, eating healthy.

Greg

In the summer of 2007, Greg tried to kill himself at the age of 27. After three and a half years of addiction to cocaine and oxycontin, Greg drove his father’s brand new car into a tree one night and fled the scene uninjured. After his arrest, his then wife with the help of a graduate from the The Natural Detoxification Sauna Centre brought Greg to Hamilton to enter the program.

Greg’s Top Three ‘Best Things About Turning Point’
  • The home feeling, the fact you could have your personal stuff there and get involved in simple things like sweeping the driveway.
  • Every Saturday, I looked forward to a visit from my wife.
  • John and Tammy themselves. They are just fantastic people, and they offered me nothing but encouragement.
