Greg's Story

Today, I am proud to say I have been clean for almost two years and working in my family’s marine distribution business. I started experimenting with drugs in high school and it slowly evolved into more everyday use. I’d say I was a heavy user for three and a half years
    I was in an unhappy marriage, and was hiding behind drugs. I had reached a point where I was just sick of life, I was tired of being a drug addict. I just thought my life should have been better than that. That’s when I took my dad’s car and hit a tree at 100 kilometres per hour. It’s funny, I don’t really remember much about that night. My dad had a heart attack after the accident.
    I fled the accident scene, but I was later arrested. While I was in the holding cell, I just decided I had had enough. A guy I knew named Sean, he had gone through this program, helped my wife get in touch with John.
    Sean and my wife brought me down to Hamilton. I remember I was very nervous but I also felt good. It was nice to know I was dealing with someone who had already walked the same path as me. John wasn’t just some guy who was going to tell me what to do, he had lived it, he understood what I was going through.
    The morning after the day I arrived, I felt a new energy. I wanted to get going and I never looked back. Coming out of the program I felt 100%. My marriage has since fallen apart, but I still strong and feel very positive about the future.
    My dad’s doing great too after having a triple bypass.
